Michael Jackson, ‘King of Pop,’ Dead at 50

I don’t know that the news has made the rounds yet, but msn.com is reporting that Michael Jackson has died unexpectedly today at the age of 50.  Paramedics were apparently called to his California home around 12:30 pm EST, where he was already not breathing.  Other details are still unknown and I’m sure will be forthcoming.

This comes as a bit of a shock to me.  You’ll forgive me for posting this (since it is not directly related to this blog’s topic or biblical studies), but growing up I was a HUGE MJ fan, and I still very much love his music.  Despite your feelings on the man, this is a sad day.  His life has surely been full of ups and downs.  But he was a remarkably talented, albeit controversial, figure.  He is also a son, a brother, and a father.  I only hope and pray that his family feels comfort and peace during this time of great difficulty.  I also wish for the same for Farrah Faucett’s family.  May God bless their souls.

  1. Michael says:

It’s so strange that celebrities so how die on the same day. Have you ever noticed that? They usually die in sets of three, though evidently a pair is also acceptable…

MJ was quite the performer and perhaps the strangest human being ever to walk the planet. He will indeed be missed.
